POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS – FULL TIMEQUALIFICATIONS: • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent • Supervisory training and experience • Certification as a Powered Mobile Equipment Evaluator (Saskatchewan Safety Council) • Level II Certification in both Water Treatment & Distribution and Wastewater Treatment & Collection, or actively working toward certification • Valid Saskatchewan Class V Driver’s License • Valid First Aid/ CPR, H2S, Confined Space, Ground Disturbance, and WHMIS • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
DUTIES: Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Director of Operations is responsible for the effective planning, management, and oversight of the Town of Maple Creek’s operational departments. This includes Public Works, municipal utilities, landfill, cemetery, parks, airport, municipal facilities, and associated capital projects. The Director of Operations provides leadership to staff and ensures the delivery of efficient, high-quality municipal services that support the strategic priorities of the Town.
Responsibilities and duties of the Director of Operations will include but are not limited to: • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily operations of municipal infrastructure and services • Ensure the maintenance, repair, and improvement of Town assets, including roads, water and sewer systems, public facilities, and parks • Supervise and support the Public Works Field Assistant and Parks Assistant to ensure work is performed to expected standards • Manage departmental budgets and lead capital projects from planning through completion • Foster a positive and productive work environment within the Public Works team.
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 5:00pm (evening & weekends as required)

This is a unionized position within the scope of a Collective Agreement between CUPE Local No. 2714 and the Town of Maple Creek.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Sixteen years of age or older
Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard – Pool certification
Aquatic Emergency Care certification (CPR C/AED/Standard First Aid)
Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor certification
Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor certification – PREFERRED
Current SHA Swimming Pool Operating Course Level 1 certification - PREFERRED
Minimum of one year lifeguard and aquatic instructor experience
DUTIES:
Reporting to the Pool Supervisor (or designate), the Lifeguard/Instructor is responsible for carrying out all duties related to effective lifeguarding of facility patrons and for providing effective instruction of established aquatic programs. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with recognized best practices and in full compliance with established legislative and local requirements and obligations.
HOURS OF WORK:
40 hours per week using a flexible schedule. Pool staff shall work flexible hours of work which may exceed eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week but shall not exceed the total number of working hours in any given month based on eight (8) hours per day without receiving overtime.
LOCATION:
The Maple Creek Community Swimming Pool (710 Dawson Street)
RATE OF PAY:
$19.95 per hour in 2025 (as included within the current Collective Agreement)
WORK DATE RANGE:
June 7, 2025 to September 2, 2025

POSITION TITLE: PARKS WORKER – SEASONAL POSITION

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 16 years of age
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Abide by Occupational Health and Safety Standards
Machinery and Equipment Operations Certificate (training provided)
Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
DUTIES: Under the direction of the Parks Field Assistant (or designate), the successful candidate will assist in the outdoor maintenance of municipal parks and facilities. Responsibilities will be performed in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and applicable municipal policies and regulations. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Operate and maintain landscaping machinery and equipment in a safe and effective manner
Perform general groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, and related maintenance tasks
Ensure all duties are carried out in a safe, responsible, and efficient manner
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday – 7:00am to 4:00pm
RATE OF PAY: $21.37 per hour in 2025 (in accordance with the current Collective Agreement)
WORK DATE RANGE: ASAP to August 29, 2025
